Christ the King 2013
My brothers and sisters in Christ,
Marking down twenty years of living in the US, I am echoing how great it is for us to have a Thanksgiving Holiday as a special way to give thanks to God and to each other. I came from a culture that does not have a special day like Thanksgiving. You can see that I have learned all the good things here. On this special day, I pay attention to family members gathering. Great times, great food and great laughs are predominant for this gathering. However, one thing that has always moved my heart is that right before the dinner begins: a prayer is said to give thanks to God. Yes, as Christians we have never forgotten God is doing great things in our life. We have God as the center of our life. He is our King; the Almighty God, Powerful God and Merciful God.
With the right attitude giving thanks to our Good Lord, our parish has gone through a blessed year; the year blessed by our God. Many good things have happened throughout the year in this parish. I came on board since July and have joined you with this great abundance that the Lord is blessing us. As we are approaching the end of the liturgical year and will celebrate this weekend, we profess together that Jesus Christ is the King of the universe. Many thank to our King for His marvelous deeds that have been given to us.
Jesus is our true lasting King. Our life is His and because of Him we have life. Therefore, like the people who were in Jerusalem once welcomed the Lord; “Hosanna in the Highest!”
We too every time we hear His name:
“Every knee should bend,
of those in heaven and on earth
and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that
Jesus Christ is Lord!” Philippians 2:10-11
