Welcome to Deacon Brian Eckrich!

deacon-brian-eckrichI am very pleased to be assigned to your parish this next year as part of the St. Paul Seminary’s teaching parish program. Currently, I am in my sixth and final year as a transitional deacon at the St. Paul Seminary. God willing, I will be ordained a priest for the Sioux Falls Diocese in June of 2017. Prior to seminary, I grew up in Aberdeen, SD where I have lived for most of my life. After high school, I attended South Dakota State University where I received my undergraduate degree in chemistry.
While at SDSU, I became highly involved with FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students) and the Pius XII Newman Center. This involvement with FOCUS and the Newman Center inspired me to more radically pursue the Catholic Faith. Thus, upon graduation from SDSU (in December of 2010), my discernment led me to attend seminary. Seminary has been a challenging, yet rewarding experience. I am so thankful for the opportunity to grow deeply in the rich intellectual and spiritual tradition of our Catholic Church.
Outside of seminary formation, I enjoy the great outdoors. Particularly, I enjoy skeet shooting, hunting, fishing, and biking.
May God bless you and May keep you.
Deacon Brian Eckrich
